Hottinger, Brüel & Kjær is seeking a senior mechanical engineer for our R&D department in Sound & Vibration Transducers located in Virum, Denmark. As our new senior mechanical engineer, you will contribute to our future transducer designs and join our dedicated Sensor team, well known for its high-quality designs over the years. 

If you enjoy coming up with solutions to challenging problems, you will be happy to know that as our new mechanical engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing Hottinger, Brüel & Kjær's new transducers for sound and vibration, securing our leading position in the market. On a daily basis, you will collaborate closely with other team members possessing expertise in acoustics, electroacoustics, vibration, analog electronics, calibration, and standardisation.  

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Develop the functional mechanics that form the core of our transducers, in collaboration with team members possessing domain knowledge.  

  • Design and develop equipment/tools and processes for new transducer designs. 

  • Building prototypes of transducer designs. 

  • Prepare and develop production documentation. 

  • Share knowledge and provide support to Process and Product Engineering 

  • Mentoring technical design students as well as mechanical engineers in the team. 

  • Contact to vendors world wide 

Professional Qualifications  
You hold a degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, at minimum bachelor level, and possess extensive experience in translating theory into practice while pass on knowledge to your colleagues. You have at least ten years of work experience. English is the corporate language, but proficiency in spoken and written Danish is also essential for success in this role, as the team frequently interacts with Danish production. Additionally, you should have experience in the following areas:  

Knowledge 

  • Intuitive understanding of how tooling, mechanical components, and tolerances interact with each other – comprehending the context rather than just the individual part/tool.  

  • Background in one or more of the following areas is advantageous:  

  • fine mechanics (0,1-20mm) 

  • Material knowledge in the field of metals, ceramic, surface treatments 

  • Insight into different manufacturing processes, and the ability to perform design for manufacture, assembly, and function. 

  • Proficiency in IT, including data collection and reporting. 

  • Advanced Proficiency in Word, Excel, CAD-programs – we use Teamcenter and Solid Edge
