Welcome to the Patents team 
At our HQ in Humlebæk, you will join the Intellectual Property (IP) department (Group IP) to head our experienced Patents team. Doing so, you will step into a collaborative community spanning Group Legal, IP & Business Ethics, where approx. 80 colleagues work together to foster innovation and safeguard our company's interests globally.

Patents is a specialised team and consists of 5 patent attorneys based in Humlebæk and Minneapolis with a high average tenure. Together, they are responsible for the creation of our patents and designs, and they help ensure that new products and solutions do not infringe on others' IP rights.

Moreover, the team works closely with our experienced and highly skilled in-house teams of searchers, IP managers and administrators, as well as with external providers.

Manage your team and work with patents
As Head of Patents, you will ensure the day-to-day operation within the team. Working alongside the rest of your team, you will participate hands-on in projects to protect Coloplast's innovations. 
Doing so, you can look forward to interacting with inventors, project managers, developers, scientists, and other stakeholders. You will also work closely with peers as you join our Group IP Leadership Team, where you will contribute to the overall development and management of Group IP, including the development of IP policies, guidelines, and procedures. 

Some of your key tasks will be to:

• Manage, coach, and develop your team, as well as plan their tasks
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses
• Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications
• Provide patent and design advice to the various stakeholders
• Manage IP projects, including litigation and IP evaluations for potential acquisitions or collaborations
• Maintain Coloplast’s patent and design policies, guidelines, and procedures

Expertise in patents and adjacent areas
The key to your success is your ability to navigate our matrix organisation and champion our patent capabilities. Moreover, you will need to have a sound business sense, great analytical skills, and the ability to view patents and IP from a broader perspective.

We also imagine that you:
Hold a master’s degree in science or engineering 
Have solid experience within the field of patents, preferably with both in-house and external advisory roles
Have some management experience 
Can handle broad project management tasks
Speak and write Danish and English effortlessly 

Knowledge of the medtech or life sciences industry will put you one step ahead of the game but is not a requirement.
